Sulphur

Sulfur is not always related to volcanic activity. There is also sulfur in sedimentary rocks. Four deposits of this type have been mined in France. The oldest is in Apt: the mine of the “Tapets” operated since 1857 during one century.
Sulfur from the Luberon doesn’t constitute large deposits but small veins and nodules in marly limestones, with gypsum and oil shales.
