Phosphate
Small phosphate deposits have been mined a long time ago as a craft production in the Apt basin. At Rustrel, mining took a more industrial turn. Four companies including “Cie des Phosphates de France”, came to extract the green lands rich in phosphate. This lasted for about ten years until 1890 with forty laborers working there.
