Clay
Clays are varied, very abundant and very good in the Luberon area: a paradise for all clay workers and this since the Neolithic age. Potters, earthenware makers, manufacturers of roof and floor tiles created workshops in many villages.
Thus, in the 18th century, the Apt and Castellet ceramics compete with those of Moustiers and Marseille. It is characterized by a new process, marbling, achieved through a mixture of clays of different colours.
