The Courennes

The shells that caused these holes are Pholadidae.
These bivalve sea molluscs still exist today on rocky coasts. One of their defining characteristics is boring out the rock with their shell to carve out the place where they'll live, protected from predators.
On ancient rocks, holes from Pholadidae indicate the presence of a shore, a paleo-beach.
Just imagine, 20 million years ago, the sea reached this point. You're on the beach!
